Today, we spent the day in Macau! We woke up moderately early and took the MTR to the ferry and the ferry to the island of Taipa which is a part of Macau but a separate island. Once we arrived, it was already approximately noon, so we stopped for lunch at this famous pork and bun sandwich place.
My favorite part of the meal: Mexican Coke, yum.
Various scenes from Taipa.
Then, once we figured out how to actually get there, we went to the actual island of Macau. We spent some time in the old Portuguese part of the town, which had lots of interesting old architecture. While there, a parade came through! It was really cool to see, and we were lucky to see it. We also spent time at the remains St. Paul’s Cathedral (which I think is a famous place, but I don’t know enough about the history of Christianity) and the fort that was near it.
Everyone in this picture either has a camera or is posing for a picture, haha.

After that, we made our way to the casino to play some slot machines for a bit. We probably only stayed for thirty minutes, and then we went off to find a place to eat. We ended up at a fancy Portuguese restaurant, which was pretty delicious. If anything, it was a nice change of pace. They gave us bread! I was so excited.
Yum.
By that time, it was already time to head back to the harbor to catch our ferry, but we had already done everything that wasn’t more gambling so it was perfect timing. Even though there wasn’t much to do there and much of our time was spent figuring out where to go next, I still enjoyed our day on the island.
